Visualize Git Repository

Posted on: January 15, 2011

When reading the Pro Git Book, I was impressed by its graphics used to describe the commit history and branches.

Like many Git GUI tools, Git Extensions also displays the history graphically.

I was hoping I can do the same visualization in web pages for quite a while. Finally I did it.

The commit history graph data was exposes by WCF data Services. On the client side, the data was drawn on HTML5 canvas.

The source code is release in the Git Web Access project.
